When Mike Service first approached me and asked me if I would be interested in producing a third edition of Mosquito Ecology: Field Sampling Methods I was initially surprised and somewhat daunted by the prospect, given my relative inexperience in field-based entomology compared to Mike and many of the researchers whose work is quoted liberally in the pages that follow.
