During the last five years, the development of new technologies capable of monitoring genome function has gone from hopeful estimates to very solid depictions of genome output from individual samples. The application of this technology to the fields of endocrinology has resulted in new insights as well as the recognition that refinements in biological sampling, technology, experimentation, and data analysis and interpretation will yield a wealth of new understandings.
