Thoracic aortic surgery has recently made major advances, and, as a consequence, there have been significant improvements in its outcomes. Moreover, new technologies such as endovascular treatment and diagnostic imaging with 3D-CT, MRI, and US, as well as research on the fundamental mechanism of the genesis of aortic aneurysms, are making encouraging progress.
