Screening for prostate cancer with digital rectal examination (DRE) and prostate-specific antigen (PSA) has met with controversy during this decade. ThThe 2008 position statement of the American College of Preventive Medicine concludes: “…there is insufficient evidence to recommend routine population screening with DRE or PSA” (Lim et al., Am J Prev Med 2008;34(2):164-70).
