He who studies medicine without books sails an uncharted sea (William Osler, 1849–1919). In the management of vascular disease, there has been an inexorable drive toward less invasive endovascular treatment options. This has substantially altered the attitudes of patients, clinicians, and health care providers and has influenced service provision for these patients.
