Early gastric cancer is routinely diagnosed and now accounts for 70% of all gastric cancer detected at the Ariake Hospital Cancer Institute. The same is true for early diagnosis of colorectal and esophageal cancers. The aim of this book is to introduce techniques for the diagnosis of early cancer, in particular, cancers of less than 5 mm in diameter, referred to as “minute cancer.” These cancers can all be treated endoscopically.
