Febrile illnesses have their highest incidence in early childhood, and fever is the leading symptom bringing children to see the pediatricians and primary care physicians. Despite the high prevalence of fever and the increased scientific knowledge about fever mechanisms, there is a lack of information about fever pathogenesis and management in pediatric textbooks.
