Biomechanics of the nervous system have been studied for decades, and interest in the role of mechanical forces in the growth, development, physiological functioning, and injury of the nervous system has exploded in the last few years. This book aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the current scientific understanding of the biomechanical behaviour of the nervous system, from the macroscopic (whole organism) level, down to the molecular level where transduction of mechanical signals occurs.
