Development in the majority of medicine branches is today conditioned by technological advancement. This is also the case with cardiology, where medical devices designed to correct heart rhythm – pacemakers, cardioverters-de fi brillators, and biventricular systems – are implanted in order to help a sick heart. The book Implantable Cardiac Devices Technology is targeted at biomedical and clinical engineers, physicians and technicians in practice, students of biomedical disciplines, and all medical staff who are required to understand the basics and details of pacing technology. The book comprises 14 chapters, which are further subdivided according to speci fi c topics. Since readers’ level of knowledge concerning the medical part of the issue may differ, chapters dealing with basic heart anatomy, physiology, and arrhythmology are included for the sake of comprehensiveness.
