Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a major cause of cancer mortality worldwide. Because early detection is rare, the overall prognosis is generally poor. Understanding of the etiology, epidemiology, pathophysiology, molecular biology, and clinical features of HCC is important in providing optimal patient care.
