In a highly specialized field of medicine such as neurosurgery, specific knowledge is needed, and residents in training for neurosurgery also need to have such knowledge. As we know, there are differences in the training programmes in the various EU countries, making it difficult to standardize medical training in the specialized field of neurosurgery.
