Although Couinaud’s study of the anatomy of the liver in the 1950s marked the beginning of a new era in modern liver surgery; and in the 1970s, huge breakthroughs in liver transplantation and regular resection of liver were made; nevertheless, it was not until the 1990s that caudate lobe resection was first documented.
