A Practical Approach to Diagnosis
and Management

Gastrointestinal bleeding is an age-old problem. The original description of gastrointestinal bleeding may have been from Galen and his work connecting dyspepsia and melanotic stool. The changes in our management of gastrointestinal bleeding over the centuries have been driven by natural alterations in the spectrum of diseases, expanding our understanding of these diseases and the never ending advances in technology and pharmacology that have occurred relative to GI diseases.
