There are an estimated 70,000 new cancers diagnosed each year among men and women between the age of 15 and 39 and 143,000 in ages 40–45. Recognizing the unique clinical, psychosocial, and quality of life impacts cancer may have based on an earlier than average age of diagnosis, these individuals are often categorized as the Adolescent/Young Adult (AYA) population.
