Over the past decade presence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) has been increasingly recognized as an independent risk factor for cardiovascular events and death. The incidence of both CKD and heart failure is increasing worldwide and the interaction focusing on the regulatory changes that occur in the physiology of the kidney as a function of a failing heart is not thoroughly discussed in any one place.
