The hepatic surgery developed slowly until the middle of the nineteenth century, when the knowledge of the anatomy permitted a radical change in the feasibility of the surgical approach to the liver diseases. The perfect understanding of the hepatic segmental structures allowed to perform all kind of the hepatic resection.
