Severe burn injuries are maybe not the most common injuries occurring on a daily basis however, it is estimated that within North America approximately 300,000 – 500,000 patients are hospitalized annually due to a burn related injury and that worldwide approximately 500,000 –1,000,000 people die due to a burn related injury.
