Advances and Technical Standards in Neurosurgery was conceived in 1972 by its founding fathers Jean Brihaye, Bernard Pertuiset, Fritz Loew and Hugo Krayenbuhl at a combined meeting of the Italian and German Neurosurgical Societies in Taormina.
