We are poised on the verge of major breakthroughs in the understanding and treatment of Sjögren’s syndrome (SjS). Though this complex, multi-organ system disorder has been little understood, poorly described, and relatively ignored for decades, successful collaboration on an international scale, careful epidemiologic studies, basic research on the immunological dimensions of this condition, clinical trials, and other investigations have led us to the brink of meaningful advances for patients.
